Significant socioeconomic inequities in today's society.

There are significant socioeconomic inequities in today's society. According to the definition of social inequality, it primarily refers to the possibilities provided to various members of society based on their social standing within a certain group. The inequality one experiences in society are influenced by factors including race, gender, and sex. That is how the world is, even though it is a little unjust. African Americans are more likely to commit crimes in the United States, and Caucasians are more likely to obtain a prominent position in the workforce due to "white privilege," as two examples of social equality. Fruitvale Station is a movie or television show that I have selected because it portrays socioeconomic, racial, and gender injustice. In Hayward, California, on New Year's Eve, the movie is set. The protagonist, an African American man, was an ex-con who was attempting to get better and take care of his daughter and girlfriend. He is being persuaded to reform and stay on the straight and narrow path by his love for his family. Things are getting a little out of hand for him, and he is confronted with some turbulence. He lost his work, and he even considered selling narcotics, but he decided it wasn't worthwhile. He made the decision to take the train home after an event. He was slain after getting into a small argument with a transit police officer. The main character was killed because of his race due to him being vilified as angry. The social inequalities play throughout this movie from him not being able to get a job due to his race to him being possibly labeled as a drug dealer although he wasn’t. Focusing on the entire film, conflict theory is relevant. Conflict theory thinks that you must have power to keep the social order. Because there is always one side that gains and one side that loses among the many groupings, society is divided. The main character was characterized as a stereotype of a gangster. People who didn't know better characterized him as such; he wants to improve as his mother's child, husband, and parent and is not interested in returning to his previous way of life. Oscar was already handcuffed when he was apprehended, leaving him helpless. White police officers already had the authority. Even though Oscar Grant was neither resisting the arrest nor posing a threat to anyone, he abused his authority and shot Grant. After rewatching this movie, it reminds me of what is going on today. African Americans are still being vilified due to their skin color. The same exact thing of shooting unarmed citizens has taken place in society so many times. Caucasian police officers abuse their power just as in the movie. I do see that society is waking up and noticing these things so change will happen
