Thanksgiving
Over this Thanksgiving, talk to the OLDEST person that you can get your hands on who attends your family's
gathering (if you go to someone else's, talk to the oldest person there). Talk to them about what their life was
like when they were your age. Talk to them about what the world was like when they were your age. Here is the
hard part, you'll need to press them, do not allow them to drift into some wistful, nostalgic reminiscing of how
much better they believe the world used to be. A good way to approach this would be to ask what kind of job
they had and what they had to do at the job, or how people got together in groups and what kind of things they
did. The closer you can ground the conversation, the better.
THEN, write a two page paper describing their experiences and how they are either similar or different then
yours, that is, how is their life similar to yours? OR how is their life different?
