The Core Functions of Public Health (Assessment, Policy Development, & Assurance)
Select a 30-55min video from the list below to watch for completing your final project, looking at how public health has approached the health topic or issue discussed in the video you selected. Additionally, in this "Case Study 2" write-up, you will be discussing how public health has applied the three core functions of public health (assessment, policy development, and assurance) to improve the issue from the video you have chosen. As a result of what we have learned throughout the semester in this course, it turns out there's much more to our health than bad habits, health care, or unlucky genes. The social conditions in which we are born, live, and work profoundly affects our well-being and longevity (Adelman et al., 2008). Now, it is time to pull it all together and discuss it!
