The Inter-Allied Games
Overview
The Inter-Allied Games was an international athletic competition that took place in Paris,
France from June 22 to July 6, 1919. For this assignment you will research a particular
aspect of the games or its competitors and write an essay describing your findings. You
will generate multi-media content, publish it in various formats on the internet and the
work will be promoted using social media.
The goal of the assignment is to do the work that historians do. The traditional model of
historical production looks like this:
Conduct research using a variety of primary and secondary sources è analyze and
interpret the information to produce a lecture, article or book manuscript è make it
accessible to others through publication, often in a specialty academic journal or with an
academic press. Hope somebody reads it.
Our model is very similar but with some important differences:
Conduct research using a variety of primary and secondary sources è analyze and
interpret the information to produce blog posts, short essays, podcasts and/or videos è
make it freely accessible to anyone with access to the internet and promote it using social
media. The essays will be published at www.InterAlliedGames.org and promoted using
Twitter and Instagram (@IAGames1919).
