The Justice Between Love and War

Sherman Alexie's "Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at Woodstock" is ostensibly the story of the relationship between a young man, Victor, and his father. However, upon closer inspection, it seems as if the story may be about how Victor sees his father, and perhaps, himself. In the introduction write a general summary about Sherman Alexie's history around 1990s , vietnam war, and the treatment of Native Americans throughout history and how it relates to Victor and his family in the short story. Then first body paragraph, write about who Victor is, how was he like growing up, and what are his thoughts/how he portrays his father and mother. Also write about the love and attention Victor craves from his father. Second body paragraph, write a long descriptive paragraph about Victor's parents. First the parents described how Victor was conceived. Then write how the Mother met Victor's father and how she was a Native American dancer. Afterwards, write how Victor's Father and about his past relationship with Victor's mother, which he remembers fondly. However, Victor's mother tells her son a different story. Victor realizes that his father remembers the past as he would have liked it to be, not as it was, and that his father has passed this belief in false memories and the imaginary to Victor. On the third paragraph, write about Victor's father experiences who struggled and how he was treated as a Native American. Describe why he was angry and what he protested trying to get justice. Then write how his situation relates to Sherman Alexie's history. On the forth paragraph, write about the war and how Jimi Hendrix music, "The Star-Spangled Banner" version, relates to what is going on in the short story. Also describe how Jimi Hendrix was also involved with protesting for justice. For the conclusion, write about the general overview about what happened between Victor and his family towards the end of the story. Then write about what happened between Victor and his father at the end. Then finally describe about Sherman Alexie's and Victor's father's history. Elaborate how Sherman Alexie, Victor, Victor's father/mother, and Jimi Hendrix all relate and connection between love and war.
