You will be watching the movie "Princess Mononoke" and following the instructions below.

- You must choose two or three of the (major) characters from the movie and first explain how they represent one of the environmental philosophies we went over in class and explain how they represent that philosophy through their words/actions and connect them to authors and examples.
- Then choose the one theory/character that you believe is the most tenable and argue for your case.
This could be done by choosing a standard (or criteria) and analyzing the ability for the theories you're using/discussing to meet this(ese) standard(s).
Or you could point out the viability of one over another based on inherent problems with the theories and showing one theory is more littered with objections (inconsistencies, groundless, etc…) than the other.
In other words, it's up to you to figure out what side of the last man you're on and how to establish a moral grounding for your view. (This is a metaphorical point I am using here--you do not need to use the last man thought experiment--that's the point, it's your choice.) - Explain what's going on in the film in terms of the ongoing ecological crisis we've been discussing. To do this correctly, you must use both academic literature (eg, Lynn White) and factual scientific information (eg, IPCC report or one of the articles or videos we read/watched that discussed the situation at hand) that we covered in class or has been linked on the canvas modules/announcements.
- Include discussions of the thought experiments, ideas, philosophers found in the textbook and links given to you by the prof (on canvas). Minimum one, it would be better to use as many as makes sense.
