Read Luke 10: 25-37 The parable of the Good Samaritan. Hint: in the parable, the person on the side of the road was a stranger, and in the context of history so was the good Samaritan that helped the poor man. The Levi and the priest it was their home-base as they were heading to the temple. Also if they stopped to help the man, the issue would be, have they defiled themselves helping a possibly dead man before heading to temple. This was the issue Jesus had and responded to what they should do by lifting up the acts of the stranger.
