In the early history of the village of Cleveland, much of the development of the village was led by individuals such as Samuel Huntington, David Hudson, Henry Trumbull, etc. What role do individuals play in the origins and development of a city? How crucial do you think they leadership is in the development of the city? 2. Explain the role social and cultural institutions (churches, theatres, libraries) played in the development of the early city of Cleveland. How important are these social and cultural institutions to the social development of the city? Do you think they are as important today as they were in the past? Why or why not?
