The Secunda Secundae
In this paper, you are to select one of
the topics from the Secunda Secundae
(Second of the Second Part), II-II; wherein St.
Thomas goes through a number of the
particular virtues and vices pertaining to the
moral life.
You are to select one of these topics and consider what St. Thomas says concerning this topic in light of the
principles of moral theology as we have discussed them over the course of the semester, especially those
concerning what constitutes a properly human action, and how that actions is ordered toward (or away from)
our ultimate end and happiness considered as the Beatific Vision. We have also seen the connection between
natural law and right reason, which is necessary for determining whether an action is ordered toward
happiness or away from it.
