You are to write a 1250 word (minimum) paper on the following topic.

First, read the two articles regarding the lessons that have been learned from Afghanistan and Iraq. In 1000 words, summarize the lessons presented by Max Boot and Richard K. Betts and be sure to show how the two have reached different conclusions. Then in 250 words, explain which argument you find more convincing when you think of conflicts that the United States might be fighting over the next ten years.

You are writing a formal paper, so be sure to write in a formal style. When writing the paper, you need to observe the following guidelines:

•Be sure to provide your name at the top of the paper and make your last name part of the file name
•Submit papers as a Word document, not PDF.
•Do not use any outside sources to support your argument.
•Keep quotations from the documents brief and no more than a sentence in length. Do not have long block quotations.
•A Bibliography is not necessary. Simply cite the page number for the documents or put in parenthesis a brief title of the document being used.
