An important part of understanding the psychological make-up of a character (what makes him/her “tick”) is to study that character’s “arc” as the story moves to its conclusion. In other words, what has that character learned – or not learned- from the events of the story about him/herself? How has the character “grown” as a person- or stayed the same as he/she was at the beginning?
With this in mind, I would like you to discuss the arc traveled by either Mrs. Baroda in Kate Chopin’s A RESPECTABLE WOMAN. What, if anything, has the character you select realized- or not realized- from what he/ she experienced from the beginning of the story to the end? Has the character changed in any way? Developed any self-knowledge/
