Income inequality, the extent to which income is distributed in an uneven manner. Income inequality is not only an economic issue, it also a big issue in our society.
#2 measuring inequality
Gini coefficient is a statistical use to measure income inequality in the society. It was developed by Italian statistics and sociologist Corrado Gini in early 1900. It is a scale value between 0 and 1. When the Gini index equals 1, that means the annual income distribution is absolutely unequal, which only one person hold all the income in hand and others doesn’t have any income.
When Gini index is zero, it means the income distribution is absolutely equal, which everyone make the same amount of money. This two situations are only conception and theory, therefore
The bigger number of the Gini-index cause more unfair of the income inequality. Instead, the smaller number of the Gini-index means the less unfair of the income inequality. In order to calculate the Gini coefficient, its is important to understand the Lorenz Curve.

In the end of 1970s, the Gini-index was under 0.3, and in the middle of 1980 the Gini-index went over 0.3. Now it is close to 0.5.
