You are currently a junior in the College of Business. After successfully completing your first
two years, you are now receiving interviews, enrolled in more challenging courses, and taking
on leadership roles. You are about to leave for a weekend retreat, and you have several emails
that require your attention
Scenarios
1. Group Project. You are in a group project for one of your upper-level courses. You’ve
noticed that one of your group members seems to turn in work late all the time and
regularly misses the deadlines set by your group. Write an email to your group member to
address this problem. Your mutual friend has said that this person is usually a good group
member.
2. Letter of Recommendation. You took a marketing class with Professor Johnson last
semester. An internship for this summer requires that you submit a letter of
recommendation. Write an email to Professor Johnson asking for a letter of
recommendation. The letter to the employer is due in one week.
3. Grade Dispute. You just received your final grade in your accounting class after taking
your final exam. You are unable to see which answers were incorrect, and you know getting
two more correct would bump your grade from a B+ to an A-. Write an email to your
professor seeking a regrade or other review to secure your additional points.
4. Troublesome Chair. You are the President of Commerce Club. One of your chairs has not
attended enough events to satisfy his requirements. Write him an email to address this
problem.
