Order Description
The research proposal requires you to design and present a study which evaluates an intervention
aimed at improving healthy eating and diet. It is important that you focus on a particular
population. The intervention could focus on eating behaviour, understanding nutrition, reducing
dietary fat or sugar, or eating more fruit and vegetables.
Please use one of these designs for the proposal:
1. Randomized control trial
2. Quasi-experimental design (e.g., prospective designs, non-randomized designs, and field studies)
3. Qualitative methods: Process evaluation
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHMENTS TO SEE AN EXAMPLE OF SIMILAR TYPE RESEARCH PROPOSALS
Requirements:
-Research proposal should aim to evaluate a healthy eating intervention
Introduction
– Specify of which population you are aiming to target
– Discuss previous researches done on your chosen intervention
– Describe theoretical and psychological basis of the intervention
– Demonstrate how this study will go beyond the previous researches
– Clearly state the aims and hypothesis of the study
Methods
Design
– Specify design of the study
– Clearly state the details of IV and DVs
– If using RCT design: discuss allocation of participants in different groups and their blinding
– If using qualitative methods please mention process evaluation
-(Use appropriate aims – not whether intervention works but ‘how intervention works’?)
Participants
– Clearly state the number of participants
– Give information about how participants will be recruited and where from
– Consider anticipated drop out rate
Material
– Fully describe the intervention and reference made to others who have developed the intervention
– Clearly describe all the measures (e.g. questionnaires, bio metric measures, interview questions)
with reference made to previous validation of these measures
-If the study is qualitative, please add a few example interview questions
Procedure
– Describe the procedure of the intervention and any control group
Ethical consideration
– Discuss any relevant and specific ethical considerations
Analysis
– State the type of statistical test or qualitative analysis method (thematic analysis) used
Discussion
– Discuss the strengths of the design
– Describe and evaluate the limitations of the study design
– Describe the potential impact of the intervention evaluation
