Research writing is very different from other kinds of writing.
This initial writing sample is an opportunity to practice this style of writing and to get
feedback from your instructor. The research background will be included as part of the
introduction to your final research proposal.
In one page, write about your research topic. Provide information about the relevant
environment (social, political or physical) and key issues or variables that are important
to understand about your topic.

Annotated Reference List: Obtain at least 11 additional sources for your literature
review (begin reading them). For each source, provide a brief description of the content
(2-3 sentences) and a proper reference citation using Turabian style.
Identify one source as a “key” reference that is most central to your research question.
