/>
After watching these videos, discuss how life in a “virtual frontier” affects your students and their families. How does growing up in a virtual world change
the way our children learn, interact with their friends, locate and use information, communicate with the outside world, etc. How does this impact the way you teach
and use technology and media for student activities? What do you have to be careful of when you have your students use their computers or mobile devices in the
classroom? What are the positive and the negatives of kids growing up in this 24/7 connected world?

With schools moving towards one-to-one computer access,
issues of acceptable use have become even more important than in the past. Go to the Common Sense Media introduction to 1-1 Essentials – Acceptable Use Policies (AUP).
Read through the guidelines and download one of the AUP examples.

https://www.commonsensemedia.org/educators/1to1/aups

Brainstorm some of the
issues you would like to communicate with parents. Share your reflection on ideas you have for your own classroom acceptable use policy.

Here are some
guiding questions you might ask yourself.

What are the challenges of giving students one-to-one computer access in your classroom?
What behaviors
will you expect from your students? (code of conduct)
What guarantees can you give your parents that you will respect student privacy and assure safety?
How will you cover yourself legally should a student push you or go over the line?
What consequences will there be for students who don’t use technology
acceptably?
